Sketches in Thyme #282

Hello Scrappy Friends

It is Sketch #282 reveal day at Sketches in Thyme

This is the amazing sketch we are using this week:
No automatic alt text available.
Designed by the very talented Brenshevia

And here is my example, again using Kaisercraft, this time Indigo Skies collection - papers and diecut collectibles.

Murphy was an early birthday present for me and joined our family via the RSPCA on April24.  He is the most loving cat, with not a nasty bone in his body!!  He likes nothing more than sitting with me at my scrap desk, more often than not on the laptop.  He is a pleasure to be around.

Thanks for stopping by, this is the last of my DT commitments for June, but have a couple of challenge layouts to share when I have photographed them.

Scrap Plezier Reveal

Hello Scrappy Friends

I was revealled on the Scrap Pelzier blog last Sunday with a Kaisercraft layout.

This layout was created with Kaisercraft Chasing Rainbows.  I used a Crafters Workshop Stencil – Dots and Dashes with Nuvo Embellishment Mousse in Navy to create texture on the white cardstock background.  The I went to my 6.5x6.5 paper pad and tore out some papers to layer under my photo.  I added some border diecuts from the paper pad, as well as some diecuts from the Collectibles pack.  To finish the layout I added some Kaisercraft wood veneer Stars, Doily, and Banners.  The title was created with some really, really, really old Basic Grey alphas.

Creative Inspirations Challenge - Scraplift

Hello Scrappy Friends

Last Thursday (15th) was my reveal day at Creative Inspiration for the Thursday Scraplift.

This is my last creation as a DT member at Creative Inspiration after deliberating long time as whether I would continue, I made the difficult decision to stand down at the end of my term.  This has been an awesome forum to be a DT member of, for 18 months, and I hope to find the time to pop in every now and then and join in on the challenges.  Congratulations to the new and returning DT members at Creative Inspiration.

Now on to my challenge.

I chose this layout by LisaM from October last year to scraplift.

I loved the watercolour media on the background, and just knew it was calling me to scraplift.

Here is my lift:

I used the awesome Kaisercraft Bombay Sunset collection and matched my Prima Watercolours to match.

I love how it turned out and I trust that Lisa isnt too disappointed with my lift effort.

My Time to Craft Reveal

Hello Scrappy Friends

I am running a bit late with my reveals this month :(

Challenge #348 - Summertime was revealed on Saturday 17th at My Time to Craft

I shared this layout of the pool area at the resort we stayed in Bali 12 months ago.  It was amazing!!

I used a Sketches in Thyme sketch to produce this layout.  The Kaisercraft varnish paper background was created with Distress Inks, and the diecuts are from the Kaisercraft Sea Breeze Collectibles.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I will be back shortly with another reveal

Scrap Plezier Inspired by Colour Reveal

Hello there Scrappy Friends

Up on the Scrap Plezier blog is our monthly Inspired by Colour challenge - and boy,is this one a beauty

Just look at those beautiful colours, yum, yum.

And now for my example:

The lighting is really bad, making the colours look really off, but trust me when I tell you that they do match the moodboard perfectly :)

I loved the colours in this moodboard – they matched perfectly the colours in the Kaisercraft Sage and Grace Collection.  I trimmed a 12x12 piece from the collection and distressed the edges with my edge distressing tool.  I cut 1.5 inch wide strips from another piece and cut various lengths from these strips.  I distressed all these edges as well.  I double matted my photo and distressed those edges as well!  I took 2 strips of a third sheet from the Sage and Grace collection, and yes, distressed the edges :) ,   I then adhered the 1.5 inch strips in a brick wall pattern.  I took some diecuts from the Bow and Arrow, and Provencial collectibles and layered them under where I wanted to place my photo.  I added a chipboard film strip, a large enamel brad, a Kaisercraft wood veneer lamp post that I embossed in a couple of colours.  I finished off by splattering some Gold Heidi Shine, and doodled around the outside edge with a black Sharpie paint pen

Scrap Plezier Reveal

Hello Scrappy Friends

I am up on the Scrap Plezier blog today with another Kaisercraft layout.

I took 3 sheets from the Blue Bay paper pad and cut them into different size strips.  I made sure that the photo and the strips were all the same size.  I placed the strips down the centre (almost) of the page and placed my photo between them.  I added some die cuts from the Collectibles pack, as well as some Kaiser Lucky Dip wood veneer Cogs and some Kaiser Pearls in Chocolate and Ice Green.  The title alphas are Thickers Campfire, and the Washi Tape is from my stash and the fine splatters were made with Tattered Angels Glimmermist in Suede.

A nice and simple layout.

Some closeups:

Thanks so much for stopping by today - I would love for you to leave me a comment to let me know what you think of my layout :)

Till next time

My Time To Craft Reveal

Hello Scrappy Friends

It is reveal day at My Time to Craft, and this fortnight the challenge is "Down on the Farm".

Again, I have chosen to create a 8.5"x11" layout.  Am really loving the challenge of the rectangular page, lol.

Firstly I created my background on white cardstock.  To do this I drew some triangles, then coloured them with Prima Metallic Accents - which are metallic semi-watercolours.  After the triangles dried, I went around them with a Sharpie Paint Pen.  I used the same pen to outline the layout, as well as the largest photo mat.

I then put together the rest of the layout

Thanks for dropping by today, I really hope you have a go at this challenge

Creative Inspiration Reveal

Hello Scrappy Friends

Today is Saturday All Sorts at Creative Inspiration forum, and my second last reveal for this amazing site.

I chose to create an Art Journal page, and I hope that you will too!!

I dont Art Journal, I hear you say...why not, I ask!!
You dont have to go and buy an expensive, or special Art Journal - mine is a Visual Art Diary bought from the local $2 shop.  By using this type of journal you do need to be sure to gesso or protect the pages with mod podge or gel medium or stick 2 together for added thickness.
You also do not need to go out and buy a whole heap of specialty items - all Art Journal spreads can be created with what you have in your stash - paints, inks, mists, sprays, pencils, pens, etc.  You also do not need to rush out and buy stencils - at least not until you become addicted to Art Journalling, lol.  An onion bag, for example, makes a great stencil of sorts.
So my challenge to you is to create an Art Journal page - either in a bought or hand made journal, or even on a sheet of cardstock, of any size.
170603 Sat Allsorts.jpg
I started by taking a Dylusions Old School Alpha Stencil and my Ranger Emboss It Dabber, and placing the stencil roughly in the centre of the page in a diagonal line, dabbed the embossing medium, quite forcibly, through the stencil.  I then took some Gold embossing powder and heat set that.  When cold, I repeated this step, this time using clear embossing powder.  When cold I took some Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Dust, and sprinkled a small amount of Navy onto the page.  I sprayed with water and moved it and scraped it around with a spatula.  When dry I repeated this process using Lollipop and dried this step as well.  Next came the stencil,  which I used with Colour Blast Colour Paste in Leather.  When that dried, I took another stencil Mini Dots and Dashes from Kaisercraft, and sprayed some Colour Blast Shimmer Spray in Deep Water.  I also used this to make some splatters.  Finally I took some more of the colour paste and an old gift card and made vertical and horizonal crossed lines in places on the page.  I added the alphas and bobs your uncle, an Art Journal layout.
Hope you will have a go at this.  There are a lot of videos on Youtube, if you need further inspiration to get started.
Some closeups:

Okay, off you trot and give it a go, you wont regret it!!

I went with the trusty ole Pinecone Versacolour on the chipboard title

The chipboard scroll and scalloped border were coated in white gesso then embossed with Stampendous aged marine embossing enamel
